How To Make Money With AdSense

By: Joe Pahl

If you'd like to know realistically how to make money with AdSense, the firs thing that you need to know is that most of your commissions will be pennies. But with the proper actions, you can maximize the amount of clicks you are getting and those pennies can accumulate and turn into monthly checks worth hundreds (even thousands) of dollars. This is the ultimate goal of all individuals trying to make money with AdSense.

Many marketers get very discouraged when they see that they made a whopping $0.50 from a click on one of the AdSense ads placed on one of their blogs or websites. But they shouldn't be. This should instead be a time to celebrate. You have a conversion ratio to start with, and once you have this, you have a better understand of what actions to take next and what results those actions should be expected.

Let's say that you have a niche blog in the "dog training" niche. You get about 10 visitors a day to your blog and from those visitors, one of them clicks on one of the AdSense ads (ie. 10% click rate). You average about $0.50 per click. Your traffic is the result of 5 articles that you previously wrote and submitted to EzineArticles.com. Doesn't seem like much, right? In actuality, in terms of making money with AdSense, you have a wealth of information.

First, let's analyze your current situation. You are getting one click per day for $0.50. So right now you are making $15 per month in AdSense revenue (which is $180 a year). This is all passive income that you should continue to get for years to come.

So how can you improve these results?

  1. You can write and submit more articles. It's not an exact science, but if you are currently generating 10 visitors a day from 5 articles, you can expect to be getting 20 visitors a day from 10 articles (now you are at $360 a year passive income). If you go all out and have 50 articles published on EzineArticles.com, you should expect to be getting 100 visitors a day and producing an annual passive income of around $1800. It should be mentioned that this is from one niche blog (you can create more blogs in other niches) and from one marketing strategy (there are dozens to choose from besides article marketing). The key point to take away from this is that the more articles you publish, the more visitors will find your niche blog and click on your AdSense ads.

  2. You can publish to more article directories. This is called article syndication. EzineArticles.com is the biggest article directory out there, but there are hundreds of other article directories where you can publish your articles on. The more articles you have floating around the web, the more daily traffic you will generate from them.

  3. You can experiment with the size and placement of your AdSense ads. Many newer marketers think that the best way to make money with AdSense on their blog or site is to maximize the amount of ads. However, many experienced marketers have seen an actual increase in the click rate by reducing the amount of AdSense ads. Instead of having 3 blocks of ads blaring in the face of visitors, there is just one or two intelligently placed ad blocks. Also, when it comes to ad size and placement, many marketers find the best success by using a 250 X 300 block at the beginning on the content, and one skyscraper block on the right hand side of the page. However, you should do your own experiments and find what works best for your specific niche blog or site.

You may find that you can bump up your click rate from 10% to 15%. And although this doesn't seem like a huge difference, over a year's span that small increase will result in an additional $90 (from $180 to $270). This is without doing anything to increase the daily traffic. You are making almost a hundred bucks more per year from the same 10 visitors per day.
